Another Day in Woodinville

Woodinville is a small town about 25 miles northeast of Seattle. Approximately 11,000 people reside in this 5.66 square mile town. Woodinville shares its zip code with unincorporated King County areas including Maltby and Cottage Lake. When in Maltby, stop by the Maltby Café.

Originally, Woodinville was inhabited by the native Sammamish people. In 1871, Susan Woodinville and her husband travelled from Seattle along the Sammamish River. They located a 26 acre area to build a log cabin and farm cattle. Later, the town of Woodinville developed around their cabin. The cabin eventually became a Post Office and First School House.

This town is well known for diversity in animals and plant life. Sometimes, you’ll find George (Peacock) on your deck or goats meandering around the side of the road. In the trees, you will see eagles, hawks, owls, and chipmunks. Bobcats and bears live in the area as well. Deer will stop by your yard to pick out their daily snack.

Woodinville has over 120 registered wineries, 14 breweries, and several distilleries. Some of my favorites wineries include Goose Ridge Estate, Patterson Cellars, and Airfield Estates. Chateau St. Michelle is known for their outdoor concerts as well as Cottage Lake. Did you know Led Zeppelin and The Doors played at Cottage Lake?
